Client’s Requirements

The Transit Care Centre (TCC) at Ipswich Hospital plays a critical role in optimising patient flow across the facility and strengthening the operational performance of the WMH service. The TCC facilitates the prompt availability of inpatient beds and supports seamless transitions to and from other health facilities, including rural hospitals, aged care centres, rehabilitation services, and other hospital and health services. The current Transit Care Centre is undersized, with no opportunities for expansion present. WMH have secured funding from the Queensland Government to enable a significant expansion of the physical footprint and extend its hours of operation. The proposed works align with broader service delivery goals by facilitating timely care, reducing length of stay, and strengthening health system resilienceacross the West Moreton region. The proposed location of the new Transit Care Centre is on level 4, Ipswich Hospital (Ward Block). This space is currently utilised as a staff dining area, which will require relocation as part of the project.
